How to Find a NetBIOS Domain Name?

Domain Name System (DNS) is a network of worldwide database servers (web servers) that allows you to connect to another networked computer using user-friendly domain names such as www.name123.com rather than complex Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. They do these by converting IP addresses such as 123.654.973 into easy to remember domain names like www.name123.com. There are different types of these worldwide database servers (DNS).

    BIND
BIND is the most widely used type of DNS server that implements Internet Protocol address into user-friendly domain names. It is simple to use, stable, fast, and provides secure storage of information. This way, organizations can fully rely on them while having the assurance that they are fully compliant with the required Domain Name Systems standards. BIND is therefore appropriate for use in situations that call for high volumes of work that you must perform at the same time. BIND servers run on UNIX and Microsoft Windows operating system.

    PowerDNS
PowerDNS has various applications that support the process of changing of Internet Protocol address into simple-to-understand domain names and email. It has a single core and variety of backends ranging from BIND style zone files to relational databases. The core handles packet processing and DNS intelligence (IP address changing service). The backends store the DNS records using random storage methods. It thus supports Zone transfers and update of notification at the same time. But since both processes can run poorly, it maintains various caches to speed up the processes. Power DNS runs on most Unix and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

    MyDNS
MyDNS is a type of DNS that serves on UNIX operating system. It is designed for organizations that use many zones and many records, both that need to be performed at the same time (real-time) on their Domain Name System data through MYSQL database. It is therefore designed to work with SQL databases such as MYSQL or PostreSQL although it does not have name service that recurs or reappears, or a library that does the name changing service. MyDNS is simple to use, stable, secure and fast. Its major shortcoming is that it only works on the UNIX operating system.

    MicrosoftDNS
MicrosoftDNS refers to the Domain Name System that serves in Microsoft Windows operating system. Unlike MyDNS, they perform library functions which handle all communications with the DNS server such as faster name changing of the IP address to domain names. The communication history results are stored afterwards because it has a local caching mechanism. You can therefore use its applications concurrently. MicrosoftDNS has the ability to connect to various Domain Name Systems such as BIND and MySQL, a nd like MyDNS, it is stable, simple to use, fast, and secure. However, unlike MyDNS, it is appropriate for use with companies and organizations of all sizes that use high volumes of work on a daily basis. Its limitation lies in the fact that it works best only with servers having versions of Windows such as Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP.
