Australian ISP AAPT confirmed on Thursday that at least 3.5 GB of customer data has been exposed after a hacker breached a server at a Melbourne IT facility.
Australian internet service provider AAPT confirmed on Thursday that at least 3.5 GB of customer data has been exposed after a hacker breached a server at a Melbourne IT facility, a report by iTnews says.
Melbourne IT is the same company that provided customer service during the botched Microsoft OLSB to Office 365 transition in May 2012. The service provider was criticized for its handling of customer support requests during the migration process.
AAPT says it was informed of the data breach on Wednesday night around 9:30 PM by Melbourne IT, and it told Melbourne IT to shut down the servers immediately.
Regardless of how old the files are, the compromised database still holds customer information on servers that should have the proper security measures in place.
