President Barack Obama was testing a new phrase this weekend - "Win the Future" - that sounds like it could be a catchy reelection slogan. Just one problem: the domain name is owned by a Portland Republican, according to Roll Call.
Obama used the phrase in his weekly address and in a video for supporters previewing the themes of his State of the Union speech.
If "Win the Future" becomes a big theme for Obama, people who search for the term could end up at a Republican website. Glen Pelikan, a retired engineering consultant active in state Republican politics, told Roll Call he bought the domain name WintheFuture.com in 2007 after former House Speaker Newt Gingrich authored a book called "Winning the Future."
Pelikan estimated that he owns as many as 300 domain names and may offer WintheFuture.com to the Republican National Committee.
