Character test for local companies

  •       To attract more business, Hong Kong firms are returning to the basics - or, when it comes to domain names, switching to Chinese characters.

Doing so is helping local companies get more clients in the mainland and Taiwan.

Of the nearly 200,000 local firms that registered with English domain names in Hong Kong, more than 3,200 have already adopted Chinese characters.

That's 22 times more than those which made the change in 2007.

What's more, as many as 70 percent of firms are expected to switch by next year.
