Pele's licensing group wins Pele.com at arbitration.

      A group that manages licensing for Edison "Edson" Arantes do Nascimento, aka Pele, has won rights to the domain name Pele.com.

      Montag Divulgacao Ltda filed a complaint with World Intellectual Property Forum. It argued that the respondent registered the domain name in bad faith because the coming soon page at Pele.com read "website for sale" and redirected to valuate.com, an online domain name valuation tool.

      This wouldn't have been an easy shot for the complainant if only the respondent had made an effort to defend himself. Pele.com is a pronounceable four letter domain name that could be registered for many reasons. It's OK to register a generic domain name for the purpose of selling it, and he didn't park it with ads related to the soccer star.

      The panelist noted "the Respondent failed to provide any explanation for its registration or use of the Disputed Domain Name".

      A quick explanation would have gone a long way.

      The pele.com domain name should transfer in the coming weeks.
