On 6 October, the French Constitutional Council ruled that Article L45 of the French Post and Electronic Communications Code would be unconstitutional as of 1 July 2011, handing the initiative over to the legislature to change it. During the review by the National Assembly's Committee on Economic Affairs of the draft law to adapt  French legislation to the EU laws on occupational health, labour and electronic communications, parliamentary member Lionel Tardy introduced a draft amendment yesterday to replace Article L.45 of the Post and Electronic Communications Code in order to make it compatible with the French Constitution.

Given the extremely tight deadlines imposed by the decision of the Constitutional Council, AFNIC welcomes the fact that a national debate has thus been initiated and calls on all of the stakeholders to take part in it.
