The ever-changing Google Doodle that has appeared for more than a decade on desktop homepages -- and that Wednesday celebrates civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks -- will start appearing regularly on smart phones as well.

      Devices with the Android 2.0 and iOS 3 operating systems (and newer) will display the drawings, corresponding to the images seen on computer screens. Google first experimented with mobile doodles during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

      Wednesday’s doodle honors Parks and her refusal 55 years ago to relinquish her seat on a Montgomery, Ala., bus to a white passenger. Clicking on the doodle at the Google site brings up search results relating to Parks.

      Earlier sketches this year were dedicated to jazz great Dizzy Gillespie and composer Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky.
