More than 15500 people will be hired by the online retail giant Amazon Inc. this holiday season to fill up the temporary vacations. The number is higher than what it was the previous year and 5000 and 4000 of these vacations will be filled up from Phoenix and Pennsylvania respectively. Other retailers all over the US have also decided to hire temporary workers including Kohl’s Corp., Pier 1 Imports Inc., Macy’s Inc., Toys R US etc.

      Previously, Challenger, Gray and Christmas, the US based outsourcing firm predicted that around 600000 new jobs will be created this holiday season and the predictions are quite right as seen so far. The overall job being added is significantly higher than previous year, however, still lower in comparison with 2007 that was before the recession.

      About 10% of the sales made in holiday season are done online in US. But, the numbers are expected to grow this holiday season, as expected by comScore Inc., a US based research firm. Experts believe these are good signs in overall and the tide may turn soon for the finance and employment sector.
