Amazon is going to announce today that it has acquired Quidsi.

Quidsi is the company behind the e-commerce websites Diapers.com,Soap.com and BeautyBar.com.Amazon acquired Quidsi for $540 million in cash. According to Dan Primack,from Fortune ,this is not the first time Amazon tried to buy the company. This is Amazon's second largets acquisition so far.The largest one is the acquisition of Zappos,when Amazon spent about $900 million.The Quidsi acquisition also intensifies Amazon’s online battle with Walmart, the largest US retailer, as both seek to use sales of low-priced household essentials to drive repeat visits to their sites, and additional, higher margin sales.
