Greetings from the land of .cz – The Czech Republic, that is.

I arrived in Prague Sunday afternoon after about 20 hours of travel, a couple days in advance of this week’s DOMAINfest conference. After a long day of travel it’s never fun to hail a cab to the hotel, so many thanks to the good folks at Elephant Traffic for picking my wife and I up at the airport. (In style, I might add.)

Today I walked many miles around Prague, through Old Town to the Little Quarter over to Prague Castle. It’s a beautiful city with a rich history. Much of what I saw today is five times as old as the United States.

Everywhere I looked I saw .cz, the country code domain name for Czech Republic. The picture in this post shows just one of the many .cz domain names I’ve come across. I’ve seen some .com as well, but I observed about 9 out of 10 local businesses using .cz.

DOMAINfest officially starts Tuesday evening local time with a happy hour, and sessions and the auction will run all day Wednesday. Stay tuned to Domain Name Wire for updates.
