A two-year-old girl has died and a woman is in a critical condition after they were discovered unconscious in a street in Bradford.

The pair were found at the back of a property in Delamere Street on Tuesday morning, West Yorkshire Police said.

The girl was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead. The woman, thought to be in her 30s, is receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

A forensic post-mortem examination is due to take place later.

Det Ch Insp Jon Morgan said police had been called by paramedics at about 09:15 GMT on Tuesday.

"The child, a two-year-old girl, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later," he said.

"The woman, who is believed to be 36, was also taken to hospital, where she is currently being treated for her injuries. She remains in a critical condition."

He urged witnesses or anyone with information to contact police.
