The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) held on 18 December the priority draw for new gTLD .The draw determined when the applications will be released for the 1930 new Top Level Domain program applicants.

The priority draw determined that the extensions .Catholic written in Chinese will be the first application to be released.This means that the chinese .Chatolic application could get approval early next year.

“This is a way to give a coherence and authentication to our presence in the digital arena.Anyone looking online will recognise the site belongs to an institution that belongs to the Catholic Church,”said the secretary of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.
