The Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has recently published the preliminary results of the new generic Top Level Domain priority draw.Based on the results of the draw ,.Brussels and .Vlaanderen extensions will be probably launched in the summer of 2014.

DNS Belgium,the company behind .BE domain is the company to have submitted the application for both .Brussels and .Vlaanderen extensions.

The Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has organized a draw yesterday in order to assign a number to all of the applications received.ICANN received 1930 applications for 1409 extensions.Based on the results of the draw,the two extensions will most likely be launched in the summer of 2014.

“We assume that, based on the results of the draw, we’ll be able to launch both extensions more or less at the same time, most likely in the summer of 2014.We have the opportunity to thoroughly prepare the launch of both extensions. A number of city-TLD’s will precede us, and we’ll be able to learn a lot from their experiences. Another advantage is that by then, the public will be fully aware of the possibilities these extra extensions have to offer, said Philip Du Bois, General Manager of DNS Belgium.
