More than a dozen web hosting providers and IT services companies were recognized on Deloitte Technology Fast 500, which serves as a strong indication that the web

hosting industry is growing at a rapid rate.

The announcement comes a few months after the 2012 Inc. 5000 list was revealed, which also included many web hosts and IT services providers among the 5000 fastest

growing companies in the United States.

Conducted by Deloitte & Touche, Deloitte Technology Fast 500 provides a ranking of the 500 fastest-growing public and private technology, media, telecommunications, life

sciences and clean technology companies in North America.

Technology Fast 500 award winners are selected based on percentage fiscal year revenue growth from 2007 to 2011.

SoftLayer successfully made its way in the top 100, ranking #87 with a 1436 percent growth from 2007 to 2011. SherWeb came in 109th place and showed a 1076 percent

growth, Network Solutions Provider ranked at #116 and saw a 1001 percent growth, DigiCert ranked #160 and grew by 568 percent, Layer 7 Technologies ranked #183 and

saw a 500 percent growth, and Alert Logic ranked #206 and saw a 410 percent growth.

The remaining companies include net2EZ at #227 and 371 percent growth, Imperva at #235 and 342 percent, Equinix at 271 and 283 percent, Media Temple at #330 and 230 percent, Intelex Technologies at #336 and 227 percent, VMware at #401 and 184 percent, Rackspace at #404 and 183 percent, Fortinet at #411 and 179 percent, Demand

Media at #445 and 157 percent, Web.com at $462 and 149 percent.

To be eligible for Deloitte Technology Fast 500, companies must “own proprietary intellectual property or technology that is sold to customers in products that contribute to a majority of the company’s operating revenues,” according to the press release.

Companies must also have base-year operating revenues of at least $50,000, current-year operating revenues of at least $5 million, be headquartered in North America, and

have been in business for at least five years.
