Web hosting provider IX Web Hosting announced on Monday that it has named Ben Gabler director of hosting.

With more than 8 years of experience in the web hosting industry, Gabler joins IX Web Hosting from his position as shared hosting product

manager for the UK2 Group.At UK2 Group, he was responsible for managing the core products and services for the business,including brands UK2.net, Midphase, VPS.NET, WestHost, Virtual Internet and more.

Gabler will oversee the release of several updates to IX Web Hosting’s shared hosting platform and services this year.

While it is unclear what exactly these updates will entail, the WHIR learned more about what goes into launching products at Ecommerce Inc

and its subsidiary IX Web Hosting through an interview with Mike Harris,vice president of IT,in the new WHIR magazine.The full interview is

IX Web Hosting launched its cloud platform and public and private cloud hosting plans in January 2011. The IX Web Hosting portfolio currently include a professional cloud plan, business plan and corporate cloud plan, as well as several VPS hosting plans, though the company makes a distinction between what it considers “cloud” services and what it terms “hosting” services, the latter being the area in which Gabler will have a hand.

Prior to UK2 Group, Gabler was chief operating officer at HostGator and chief executive officer at HostNine.

Since IX Web Hosting’s currently features a “we’re hiring” graphic in multiple spots on its website, it seems that Gabler will not be the only

appointment IX Web Hosting announces this year.

“Ben isn’t a candidate you can go out and look for. He’s the kind that, if available, you just snatch up. He’ll be adding something very special to our team and we’re very excited for what’s to come,” Said added.
