With the great efforts put in by registrars like Asia Registry, CNNIC (.CN governing body) finally re-allowed overseas registrations of .CN from Feb 10, 2010.

Now ONLY overseas (non-Chinese) international entities owning a Chinese Branch* is eligible to apply for .CN or CDN (Chinese Domain Name). They also need to have at least one Chinese employee* in order to submit such applications.
