Company says it had a contract with ICANN to plan gala.

San Francisco event planning company Corporate Concepts (warning: music on home page) has sued ICANN (pdf), saying the non-profit breached a contract to run the gala at its San Francisco meeting last March.

Corporate Concepts alleges that it had a contract with ICANN to run the gala, for which it was to receive a $40,000 event management fee. The company had been working with a representative of The San Francisco Bay Internet Society (SFBayISOC), who allegedly told Corporate Concepts that she was working as an agent for ICANN to plan the event.

That representative was Annalisa Roger. Roger is also the founder of an applicant for the .green top level domain.

On December 4, 2010, Roger emailed Corporate Concepts from her DotGreen.org email address after a meeting with ICANN. The email states that ICANN had agreed for Roger to hire Corporate Concepts to plan the gala.

Corporate Concepts said this formed a contract, and that it started working on the project, only to have the event later handed to a competitor. It is demanding payment for its work. ICANN refuses to pay.
