Facebook trumps Twitter in terms of number of users. Facebook has 500 million users while Twitter has 106 million.

      Facebook is also a stickier website. 41 percent of its users login to Facebook daily compared to Twitter’s 27 percent.

      But Twitter wins in terms of interactivity. More than half of the total Twitter users update their status daily. On the other hand, only 1 out of 10 Facebook user updates on a daily basis.

      The infographic also provides interesting marketing insights. Users are more willing to follow brands on Facebook than on Twitter. But Twitter beats Facebook in terms of marketing effectiveness. 67 percent of Twitter’s brand followers are more likely to purchase from a specific brand compared to Facebook’s 51 percent.

      The study was conducted back in March (we reported it too). It also reflected that users are more likely to recommend a brand they follow on Twitter than on Facebook. However, it is best to take this piece of information with a pinch of salt. In April this year, Facebook replaced ‘become a fan’ to the ‘like button’. It could have changed users’ perception and potentially the results.

      Twitter also has a more mature audience. Majority of the Twitter users are from age 26 to 44 while Facebook has a younger core users of age 18 to 34. Note that the information reflected below is based in U.S, unless stated otherwise.
