Netflix phishing scam targets users through false warnings

  • Release time:2014-03-07

  • Browse:6295

  • The phishing attempt starts by telling Netflix users that their account has been suspended due to "unusual activity," and they are given a phone number to call. Once connected with a "support staffer," they will connect callers with a "Microsoft Certified Technician" to help with the problem.

Netflix has no affiliation with Microsoft.

While on the fake call, the scammers attempt to collect a photo ID and credit card as account verification. If you give any account information over a call like this, Netflix urges you to change your information immediately.
