RightSide Registry launches new DPML service

In November 2013 we saw the first Domain Protected Mark List (DPML) service launched by Donuts. Now, RightSide Registry have launch the same service for 24 domain names and for an initial period of one year. Ascio will be making the RightSide DPML available around March 1st 2014.

From day one, we’ve worked with ICANN and our partners to put a Rights Protection Mechanism in place before launching our gTLDs. DPMLTM is that mechanism. It stands for Domain Protected Marks ListTM. It allows trademark holders to protect their validated trademarks by blocking their trademark and trademark+term – without defensively purchasing real estate on every RightsideTM gTLD.

How does it work?

For brands that are registered with the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH), a trademark (TM) holder can use DPML to protect their brand across all current and future Rightside gTLDs. DPML registration applies to an exact trademark match, a variation on a trademark or as a trademark plus a linked term.

Currently, the Rightside DPML is available for a one-year registration term. In six months time, we will be offering multi-year renewals much like a domain name.

What are the benefts?

1. TM and TM keywords or variations can be protected across all Rightside gTLDs (current and future).

2. DPML provides fexibility so TM holders can register domains during or post Sunrise using the

Rightside Override feature.

3. DPML helps you protect your clients’ intellectual property by avoiding costly defensive domain buying.

4. It’s simple to purchase DPML from inside the registry portal or through standard EPP.
